At this moment in time, I'm very content. I'm also super-dee-duper grateful for the chance that I have to be here in this perfect little café, at the tail-end of a fun, chill, and wonderful vacation with the family. California was awesome- swimming at the beach being well worth the excruciating sunburn that has given my shoulders the texture of an aged tortoise's shell- but the time spent with Mama and Pops, as well as my crazy, funny siblings was even better. We ate seafood (obviously), went to the Zoo, ogled gorgeous sartorial masterpieces in Bloomingdale's, listened to sweet music, smuggled six people into one-bed hotel rooms, and more! When we weren't busy with those things, we were generally looking for places to continue doing those things. Particularly eating. I promise you: my love-bordering-on-crippling-obsession with food was definitely not brought on by a random act of God or happenstance- I was born this way (hey! I was born this way, hey!). Oh, and I snagged a gorgeous pair of light grey, suede Vans (with subtle, classy, sea-foam teal detailing) at an outlet mall for TWENTY DOLLARS! There was a killer sale- buy one pair and get a clearance pair half-off. My bro and I got two pairs of nice sneaks, as well as water-proofing spray, for just over $70 (tax excluded). Talk about a freakin' steal. All because of a potty stop on the way home.
When we were all done in Cali, the family and I headed back to little ol' Holbrook, where we chilled for a few days, binging on Parks and Recreation, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I always knew I'd love that show- ever since third grade when I first heard about it from my friend Ashley), YouTube (everything from Miranda Sings to PewDiePie's Outlast play-throughs), and Mint Moose Tracks ice cream. It was wonderful to have some downtime on our run-down little farm in rural Nowheresville; I got to see my three puppies (they're actually full-grown- but whatever- they're my puppies) which I've been looking forward to almost as much as seeing my actual, human family. There were also chickens to attend to, thousands of effing mosquitoes to dodge (ohmygosh, the mosquitoes! I hate them. Hate. Them. Screw those West-Nile-infected nasties), and I even got to be there for our first-ever duckling hatching! We've had ducks for a while, but the three cuties I'm talking about were the first to be laid (as in eggs, you sickos), set, and hatched on our farm! So freakin' cute. Yesterday, their mama took them outta the nest for the first time and walked them around the yard. It was adorable.
Yup. It was a good time. And, while I didn't get a chance to blog, be assured that I was certainly thinking about you (whomever you may be) while I was gallivanting about the South-West US. I just didn't have much time to myself. And that's okay.
I will tell you that exciting things are coming for the blog! You see, I recently purchased tickets to a concert . . . and not just any concert . . . I bought tix to what is possibly the biggest, craziest concert of the year: Lady Gaga's ArtRAVE- The ArtPop Ball! *cheering and applause! applause! applause!* I've been wanting to attend the Queen of Electro-pop's show for years, and now I'm finally in a position to be able to do so. I'm not letting this opportunity pass me by. I'm vury, vury excited.
To help get even more pumped about the concert, I will be devoting an entire week of blogging to the Lady; we'll look at her music (of course), iconic fashion, art and art collaborations, and even her charity work. All this will lead up to, and culminate in, the actual concert, which takes place in Salt Lake City on Monday, August 4th, at 7:30 PM. I will, of course, be dressing for the occasion, and I'm very excited about the outfit idea I've got in mind. You'll get to see it as we get closer to the date of the event.
I'm hoping to have A Casual Adventure's Facebook page up and going by then, as well as an Instagram account, so that I'll be able to share as much of the concert experience with all of you as I can. Stay tuned for that!
I'll also soon be reviewing La Roux's new album, Trouble in Paradise, once Gaga Week is over.
Until then, take care and have fun!
Much love,
Adam.
