Welcome to A Casual Adventure! It's Monday again, and time for another Music Monday post!
I'm proud to say that I've finally been able to give 1989 a bit of a rest! I've come down from that bubblegum high, and have branched out and listened to quite a bit of other music recently. It's been refreshing, and a lot of fun. I've discovered a few new artists, and have come to appreciate a few that I'd heard of a while ago. I've even managed turned a friend- one whom I'd never peg as a fan of Her Minajesty- on to Nicki Minaj. Well, I got him to listen to, end enjoy, one of her songs ("The Crying Game"- really awesome production), at least.
As I've recently been having somewhat of a rough time, a lot of what I've been listening to is quite moody and dark. A few songs are joyful, though, and I love them- namely "From Afar," "Mess is Mine," and "Riptide" by Vance Joy, and "Reflections," by Misterwives. Now, I don't want any of you to worry about me- the rough time hasn't really been anything to fret over! We all just have some ups and downs, and I'm coming up out of a little bit of a dip. I'm sure it was largely connected to my awful, dumb, sinus infection which ROYALLY PISSED ME OFF for over a week. Two days of antibiotics, generic Mucinex, Day/NiteQuil Severe, Zyrtec, and fabulous friends/roommates who made/bought me soup and tea later, I'm doing much better and am in quite an excellent mood.
To celebrate this wonderful turn around, I've put together a new Spotify playlist of all the music I'm currently enjoying, and I'm gonna share it with you! This playlist has 67 songs, and is over four hours long. Oops. I was gonna make a little, 30 minute list, but got a bit carried away. Whatever; it's all good.
Songs on the list I'm currently obsessing over (besides all of them):
-"I Need You," by M83: Anthemic, intense, 80's-inspired, sax rock! Yes. And those notes he hits at the end just gave me chills (I was listening to it as I was writing this part).
-"Waiting Game," by Banks: This song is sad, sexy, and dangerous. When the synths come in, my walk turns to a prowl and my eyelids are automatically set to a smoky half-mast.
-"Home," by Gabrielle Aplin: This song makes me cry. Every time.
-"Buzzcut Season," by Lorde: This is, in my mind, the melancholy, nostalgic soundtrack of summers and friends past.
-"Flawless Remix," by Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj: Yeah, sickeningly awesome. And angry. *Chills*
-"Riptide," by Vance Joy: While this song is amazing, the real reason I love it is because my little sister, Karlie, loves it and showed it to me, and she's just the sweetest, cutest thing that EVER WAS! I always think of that girl when I hear this song, and it makes me happy.
-"All I Want," by Kodaline: Like the song above, this heartbreaking track is wonderful. However, I mostly like it because it makes me think of my other sister, Macy. When she sings this song, something haunting and magical happens. It's awesome. I have the coolest siblings.
The rest of the songs on this playlist are fantastic, but instead of listing why I love each and every one of them, I'll just let you listen to 'em for yourselves!
Much Love and Music!
Adam
